Our Clinic for Psychiatry and Psychotherapy in Bethel provides 274 inpatient treatment places in Gilead III and Gilead IV and 42 treatment places at the Pniel Clinic, Hoffnungstalerweg 10. There are in addition 92 places in 5 day clinics, a day-nursing facility in the town and an outpatient surgery at Gadderbaumer Straße 33, as well as a practice for occupational therapy at Kammermühlenweg with 64 places. The clinic is primarily responsible for the provision of psychiatric-psychotherapeutic care to the citizens of Bielefeld, which number approximately 330,000; on request, however, the clinic is also available for patients from regions further afield. We run, in addition, a department for research, quality assurance and documentation, which is responsible for the coordination and implementation of scientific projects as well as clinical governance and assurance activities. Our clinic offers all the latest diagnostic and therapeutic procedures of psychotherapy, socio-psychiatry and somatic therapy of psychological illnesses, individually adapted to various indications. Multi-professional teams, including nurses, doctors, psychologists, social workers, occupational therapists and sport therapists work in all areas, supported by administration and transport services. On the wards a therapist and a nurse are primarily responsible for each patient and they co-ordinate the entire treatment and nursing process from diagnosis and therapy, through to the transitional phase of discharge back into the home environment. As part of a large hospital providing maximum care, the latest medical diagnostics and therapies are available. In a close-knit network we co-operate with GPs and psychotherapists and numerous outpatient and inpatient facilities, which form part of the socio-psychiatric, psychosocial, senior citizen and addiction support systems provided by the von Bodelschwingh Institutes at Bethel, the Evangelisches Johanneswerk and the town of Bielefeld. This network ensures that our patients continue to receive the care they require following discharge from inpatient treatment. Also we co-operate closely with patient and family focus groups, where our work is critically and constructively scrutinised.
